Athon padded through the hot plains, and came to a river. He walked over, and dipped his head to the water, beginning to lap it up with his rough tongue. He saw a disturbance in the water. Lifting his head, he saw a dark sharp approach the shore. He looked closer. Two pearl-white eyes stared back at him. Suddenly, a huge crocodile shot out of the water, targeting Athon's neck. He raised himself to his hind legs, and swatted at the crocodile's eyes. His claws met the rough skin of the crocodile, and he pulled back. He wasn't able to make a dent. He fell to his four paws, and the crocodile came with him. He darted out of the way and the crocodile landed, snapping his jaws on frustration. Athon began to back away slowly as the crocodile lazily inched forward. Angry and tired, it returned to the water. Athon caught his breathe.
